Well, because "Happy Birthday Adele" was TT worldwide and in almost all countries at midnight.
According to Twitter people here in Brazil, when a hashtag reaches TTs and then leaves TTs, it does not come back for a while, no matter how many times it is entered, because it no longer produces a sharp peak, so ..
why do you think the explosion of "Happy Birthday Adele" during the day, possibly much higher than at midnight, hasn't raised the sentence for TTs? at least not in a massive way as happened at midnight?
Because It's an automatic mechanism. That's why people are always posting different hashtags for the same subject.
In short: "Happy Birthday Adele" would probably trending all afternoon if he had not been in and out of the TTs at midnight.
That's what twitter people say here.
