We were there for only two or three nights and did the typical tourist thing. hopped on the tour bus and went to the sites like the Louvre, Notre Dame, etc. It was a very quick trip. I definitely want to visit again and go to some other parts of France. If I make it back there soon, perhaps we could meet up for a cafe and dessert. Bon Nuit!

Hello DuchesseRVA . great if you can post your yummy " tarte aux pommes " I will love it .
Paris ? great choice as defo this is the first city to visit . 2 /3 nights gave you an idea of the parisian feeling and I also am a foreigner in a way as I was only born in Paris ( Dad is from there ) and left it I was a few months .. lol not alone though haha . I love Paris and did the Louvres , Notre Dame like you . The bateaux mouches, the champs Elysées, Montmartre and a bit more . The latin quarter is nice also .. appreciated by tourists as a nice side of Paris .
yes, you defo need to come back again and visit depts away from the capital as THERE is the real France .. ( am defo a provinciale ) means I love away from Paris .. too ;)
yes I would love to meet you up for a café and croissant/ pastries !! yumm.. à bientôt ( see you soon ) have a good day !!

Bennie, which part of France are you living in? Today I made french toast for the hubby's breakfast, and for dinner roasted red potatoes to go along with lamb tagine. Also, I roasted grapes tomatoes with olive oil, kosher salt and cracked pepper. Roast at 425 degrees for about 40 minutes. It makes a great spread for french bread slices or crackers. For dessert it will be bananas foster.

Bonsoir DuchessRVA, I live in the western part of France in La Roche sur yon( 86.000 inhabitants) ( vendée departement ) this departement ( county ) is situated in between Nantes( 45 ' ) and Bordeaux ( 1h30) .The Vendée is just under Brittany . The atlantic ocean is at 20' from my house ( Les Sables d'olonne ) where starts a big boat race around the world every 2 years ( maybe you heard of it : the Vendée Globe )is the tuffest race in the world .It is a very ( too ;) ) touristy a county as the ocean is all along on 100 kms so no way I take a salted water bath in the summer :( haha .
Lucky hubby .. wow you cook like a " cordon bleu " ( a non professionnal / very good cook ) I love all you cooked .. should I ring your door bell ? hehe and I bring a bennie -made cake ! ;) Did you roast the potatoes in olive oil also ? yumm ! kosher salt is ? and banana foster is ? it really seems very balanced a meal .. congrat ! you maybe could join me for my next food -boum ? :) Bravo à toi !!

Bennie, I have not heard of the boat race you speak of, but I will do some research and learn a bit more about it. It sounds like a lovely place where you live; except for the touristy part. I know that can be annoying; especially because this is your place of rest and relaxation. I have a friend here who said she recently bought some land in Bordeaux and hopes to build a house one day. If I am invited, then I may ring your door bell one day. I love a good party so let us know when the food-boum will take place.

Regarding the potatoes, yes, olive oil, some fresh rosemary and garlic. Roast until done and then you can salt as you like after or during the roasting phase. You can pretty much roast any kind of root vegetables. That is the way they come out best.

Has any one ever had the mustard called Pommery ? Its in a crock with red top. Best mustard in the world. Comes from France . C'est vraiment magnifique ! I'm sure bennie has. I can not find it in the States anymore.[color=#0040FF]

Here you go :

Heres what they say about the Pommery Mustard :
Moutarde de Meaux Pommery: The World's Best Mustard, Meaux Mustard! Recipe that dates to 1632, Brillat-Savarin, the Father of French cuisine, stated that this is the mustard of gourmets Use in vinaigrettes, on veal, lamb or roasts.

The Meaux Mustard, cousin of the one of Dijon, differs from it by the use of the vinegar in its manufacture. Rustic and very pleasant mustard stops some, the Moutarde de Meaux is made starting from crushed or whole seeds. It's called then Old Mustard and, even if it's usually regarded as a strong mustard, this type of preparation confers it a certain softness.

The Moutarde de Meaux is easily recognizable in its pot in likings and thanks to its red wax seal (recently replaced by a plastic top for the American market). Ideal to raise cold meats or dishes such as the Pot-au-Feu, this excellent Old Mustard will give to your mayonnaise the characteristic crunching of whole Mustard seeds
The link to buy it ..

Do you want an istinguisher also as it is a very strong mustard ! bahaha
Personally I didn't know about the name Pommery but I know that mustard .. is the real one , the original one . Some people here don't like it because we are more used to the regular one ( moutarde Amora ) I like it a lot !! oi oi

Oh you have never heard of the Vendée globe ? It is a huge international event with race boats ( sail boats ) from all over the world .. next departure is soon (10 november 2012 )
first link .. a lil movie that presents the race !! so scary !! best world skippers, no stopover, no assistance .. almost 25000 Miles !! some never come back :( and many have to quit .. only the best tandem boat/skipper can finish the race .. tbh they would pay me that I would not do 100 miles with any of them bahaha !
http://www.vendeeglobe.org/fr/le-vendee ... ation.html
http://www.vendeeglobe.org/fr/
the vendée globe brings us more tourists haha but is like that as France economy is mainly based on tourism ..
Bordeaux is a very nice region for .. its wine of course .. Chateau Margaux, Chateau Laffite ( Barons de Rothschild ) Mouton Cadet .. Pomerol , Côtes Rôties , as for the most prestigious ones . I just saw on internet that a Laffite can go up to 26000 Euros .. totally crazy !! but you can easily find a good bordeaux for 10 Euros .
A cousin of mine bought a splendid house ( typical old one .. huge ) in the Bordelais and they rent it when they don't visit the region of Bordeaux . Yep .. ring my bell if you come to Bordeaux !! dring dring is DuchesseRVA :)
My next food /wine BOUM is soon .. at my 2100 post so is like very soon woof you are invited of course !!
So true as for the way you cook veggs .. crusty, I love it !! we have a famous lil potatoe named pomme de terre de Noirmoutier .. is a slight naturally salted potatoe that we grow on the island of noirmoutier .. you cook/frie them and add some salted butter es well omg .. You'd love them !
