It's true that she has hired a female bodyguard. The Daily Mail have Adele and her shopping in Tesco. They say it's her bodyguard, it could be false, but it was the only person with her.

I think it was not her bodyguard, but her driver.

Yeah, I don't think that chauffeur, come bodyguard would be very effective chasing after someone in those heels, and not to be a heightist, but she appears to be a none too threatening 5ft tall. Mind you, she could be a ninja.
