naturalcitizen wrote:If she does decide to do a Bond theme, I would prefer if she writes it herself. Thomas Newman was, however, already confirmed as the main composer. This means he will most probably compose the main theme song as well. Not even Alicia Keys got to write [any part of] the song she performed.
I've heard whatever new song she did, she wrote it.
I think its Bond. Paul McCartney and his wife at the time wrote Live and Let Die. Duran Duran wrote A View To A Kill with John Berry. I'm still holding out for Bond. I think she wrote it with Paul Epworth.
This about Bond themes:
...odds are that it's the theme song you recall first when thinking about your favorite 007 cinematic adventure.
Theme songs like "Goldfinger" and "Live And Let Die" are burned deeply into the pop culture consciousness, becoming recognizable "jingles" that even the most jaded film fan knows verbatim and will sheepishly acknowledge the indelible imprint they have left on modern music, whether it be connected to a film or not.
Over the years the theme music from the various Bond films has fluctuated in quality, debatable choices in the past coming from the likes of A-Ha and Madonna, just to name a few of the hiccups along the way. But for every iffy Bond theme song there's at least two others that became instant classics, timeless pieces of music that may have begun as nothing more than songs to accompany the traditional opening credit sequence of a James Bond film, but in the end became legendary pieces of music that transcend the THX and Dolby Surround Sound of the Cineplex and have permanently lodged themselves into the collective consciousness of music minded individuals the world over.
Interesting fact:
"A View To A Kill" is the only Bond theme song to ever achieve a #1 slot on the American pop charts.
And here is Shirley Bassey's Diamonds Are Forever that Adele was singing on RAH. This jazz style would be right in Adele's wheel house. She could get all smoky and sultry. Oh hell yes I want her to do the Bond theme. It is not cheesy to do Bond, it's a national honor. Lol.
